This LG refrigerator is a standout in our tests and offers plenty of capacity to feed a family however, it has a few quirks that we found irritating. The freezer drawers are not as cold as we'd like. The temperature of the middle drawer was 41° during our peak use test, which is the temperature needed to freeze ice cream or other frozen foods. The temperature of the rest of the freezer remained at around 36 degrees.
The doors of the refrigerator also have sunken handles that are difficult for shorter people to close. This may seem minor however we prefer front-mounted handles on refrigerators because they're more convenient to open and close.
This fridge is a bit expensive, but it's worth it for anyone who wants an ultra-modern look for their kitchen. We recommend this fridge for those who want to upgrade their current fridge or are building a new house and want to have a seamless style for their kitchen.
Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's newest and most elegant counter-depth French door fridge, priced at $4,200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also does well in our cooling tests, although we're not a fan of its plastic handles and the crisper bins are a bit flimsy.
One thing that distinguishes the RF23M8090SG apart is its Bespoke line that lets you personalize your fridge with removable colored panels that can be swapped when you're tired of the current ones. There are 11 different colors to choose from, ranging from pastels to more vibrant shades. There are four metallic finishes. Some of these panels can be personalized with photos or text which makes the fridge a personal feature that can be matched to your tie-dye Crocs, Rick Owens dress or Andy Warhol banana neon sign.
The LED lighting can be switched to a different color which is a nice feature. The interior of the fridge has a sleek finish that minimizes smudges, and makes cleaning easy. The only flaws that really bother the RF23M8090SG are its cramped beverage center, as well as it takes some effort to open the door-indoor feature, which houses a water dispenser and a pitcher. You have to feel for an unmarked lever on the underside of the door halfway across, and when you do, it opens an additional door inside the fridge, which houses the pitcher docking station, the water dispenser and two shelves for drinks.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
French door refrigerators provide an elegant design to any kitchen, and are a good fit in various sizes of rooms. If you're looking for the convenience of this design without the extra height, a counter-depth fridge is the best option. We've tried a variety of them, and this particular Frigidaire model has a higher than average score in our ratings due to its low cost and thoughtful features, such as an adjustable temperature drawer.
However, it has a couple of nagging problems. Our test data shows that the FGHB2866PF warms up quite a bit in the freezer, and can be uncomfortable warm on the refrigerator's outermost shelves. Our heat maps show how the temperature changes minute by minute. The orange area on the top right, representing the butter bin, is particularly warm for most of the time we tested. This might not appear to be a problem initially, but the fridge spends the majority of its time at 32 degrees.
It's also worth mentioning that the FGHB2866PF isn't an Energy Star-certified model, which may be a factor for certain buyers. The main issue is that this fridge isn't very good. It's not equipped with the latest features and is made of a slender, flimsy material which makes it difficult to recommend it over more expensive alternatives at this price.
In many ways, the Frigidaire feels like the stainless-steel model of fridge you might see in your local appliance store. It's a great option with a brushed-finish that looks nice and is resistant to scratches. However it's not offering much to differentiate itself from competitors who are more feature rich and cost less.
Still, if you're shopping for a budget counter-depth French door refrigerator but don't have the funds to splurge on our best choices and the FGHC2331PF is worth considering. It's got enough storage to meet the needs of the majority of families and does a good job keeping food fresh. And even if it isn't an energy-efficient model, it won't come close to costing more than our top-rated models do.
